Back-Fill
A nail maintenance procedure usually done with electric file, so as to re-create the smile line OR feature.
Bacteria
Bacteria are single-celled microscopic organisms, some of these are harmful, but most serve a useful purpose.
Bactericidal
Substances that can kill bacteria.
Baking Soda
Baking soda is sodium bicarbonate, its crystalline and white in color. In nail care industry it can be used as exfoliant OR can be mixed with hydrogen peroxide to whiten nail bed.
Balance Point Positioning
Stabilizing body parts for steady control.
Bar Glitter
Small, reflective strings that are made up of glitter.
Bartering
Exchange of goods and services between two or more parties.
Base
Having a pH value of greater than 7.0 (neutral)
Base Coat
Base cost is substance applied on nails before application of colored polish, it helps in protecting nails from the damaging effects of nail polish.
Beau's Lines
Beau's lines are band-like depressions extending from one edge of the nail to the other.
Bed
Skin beneath the nail plate
Beeswax
A natural wax produced by honeybees. It is widely used in skin and hair care
Benzoyl Peroxide (BPO)
Benzoyl Peroxide is a peroxide with antibacterial and anti-inflammation properties. It is also used in acrylic nails
Beta-Hydroxy Acid
Beta-Hydroxy Acid (BHA) is an organic compound, used to exfoliate skin and combat inflammation such as salicylic acid
Biotin
Biotin is a B vitamin and is commonly known as vitamin B7 or H, it is produced within the human body. It is used to treat brittle nails.
Bit
Abrasive piece which is attached to the end of electric file.
Blending
Mixing two or more nail polishes together OR applying two or more nail polishes overlapping each other so as to create multi layered nail art.
Body Butter
Body butter is a skin moisturizer containing different natural oils, used on nails and cuticles to soften them.
Body Jewelry
Any jewelry that is used to decorate a piercing on the body.
Boiling Point
Temperature at which any substance changes into a vapor.
Bonder
It is UV gel that is applied directly to natural nail, it binds to the keratin in the nail bed to create a stronger bond for the enhancement product.
Booth Rental
Renting of booth OR chair from an existing salon, it is a sort of landlord-tenant arrangement in which expenses paid by booth renter and owner are shared based on the contract between them.
Botanical
Any substance that is obtained from plants primarily for its medicinal or therapeutic properties.
Boutique Nail Salon
A business that is offering specialized nail services and products, usually offering the services at affordable prices.
Breathing Zone
The area around your head from which you usually breathe air, vapors and the dust from nail products contaminate the breathing zone and nail technicians are advised to protect it while working.
Bridal Nails
Bridal Nails are the nail design decided by the bride and nail artist for the wedding.
Brittle Nails
Means nails easily become cracked, chipped, split, or peeled.
Brittleness
Property of a material that breaks it when subjected to stress.
Bruised Nails
Bruised Nails is a term for bleeding and bruising under the nail.

A bunion is often described as a bump OR deformity of the joint, on the side of the big toe.
